South Circuit & Beach Safari
Overview
Kenya pioneered the safari experience. It is also a country of contrasts: a land spanning from snow-capped mountains to lush, tropical rainforests and golden beaches. This quintessential safari destination offers wide-open spaces, picturesque landscapes, access to unique cultures and unique wildlife galore. There are wildlife species found north of the equator that cannot be sighted south of the equator. And there are wildlife south of the equator that cannot be sighted in the north. This safari lets you experience a little bit of both of these unique flora and fauna “Kenya is a special safari destination. It offers incredible diversity of flora, fauna and habitat, and is easy to combine with a relaxing beach stay on the Indian Ocean.”—Rose Loggi, Consultant.Your visit in the Maasai Mara coincides with the one of a kind wildlife spectacle known as The Great Wildebeest Migration.
This is an annual event that has repeated itself time and again as many thousands of animals embark on their long trek from the Serengeti National Park into the Maasai Mara, which is its extension to the south. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and antelope cross over the Mara as they escape from the dry areas of Serengeti in search of greener pastures on the Kenyan side. This is a very spectacular and unique event that is a must see. Witness ambushes by predators such as the big cats; crocodiles lying in wait for gnus in the Mara River; thousands succumbing to nature by drowning in their attempt to cross the river; young ones born on the move; and just the sheer numbers that sweep across the Mara plains. This is a sight to behold and one cannot afford to miss this annual occurrence.
